Assisted client reach agreement where there was a complex factual matrix and where both parties had made numerous court applications. We worked together collaboratively with the lawyer on the other side and agreed our own timetable. 

Through a series of round table meetings we reached agreement on both the financial arrangements and the arrangements for the child. There was a very contentious issue where the husband had refused to give the wife a religious divorce and after two years of refusal, through these meetings and working together, he agreed to provide our client with the religious divorce.  

We assisted a wife of over 40 years and where there were significant financial assets including a long established company, which was in the process of being liquidated upon the retirement of both shareholders. For various reasons, this case was not appropriate for mediation.  

Through sensible case management and negotiations with the other lawyer we agreed a timetable, engaged an independent accountant to consider and report on the accounting issues at hand and reached a sensible and equitable agreement.  We also engaged a wealth adviser to look at the current and future capital needs of our client and the financial wishes she had for her children to ascertain how these objectives could be met, using financial projections and helping us to formulate offers to ensure that our client was able to maximise her settlement. We also took tax advice to ensure any inheritance planning was carefully considered in preparation of the offers made.
