We assisted a client through mediation where the asset base was complex and spanned multi jurisdictions and where the other party was unrepresented.  We assisted in drafting letters to the relevant tax advisers and with the benefit of expert tax advice helped her to formulate proposals to ensure that the division of assets could be made in the most tax efficient way. Together, with the client, we reality  tested the suggestions proposed in mediation and helped her revise the proposals to ensure that as the children’s primary carer and the bigger earner would have financial security, whilst satisfying the needs of the husband to encourage settlement.  What could have resulted in very expensive litigation resolved itself with the benefit of sensible advice. 

We supported our client through mediation where the parties were negotiating the terms of a nuptial agreement, in anticipation of marriage, whereby our client was the financially weaker party and who was pregnant.  Our client was very nervous about her vulnerability and felt that there was an imbalance of power with regards her ability to understand the legal and financial complexities.  We attended the mediation with her, offering her support, advice and the reassurance to reach an agreement, which she ultimately felt confident would provide for her financial security in the event of divorce.  We helped navigate a very sensitive and fragile situation and ensured that both parties felt confident with their agreement and felt they were entering marriage both having been heard and listened to.
